Open Door
This is really my only Roots/Americana style song; it talks about how important it is to wholeheartedly believe in yourself, and to have at least one other person who believes in you. Vocals were graciously provided by talented singer-songwriter, Ben Brewer.

Lyrics by Daphne Kalfon © 2003
I believe in who I am, and
I believe in who I’m gonna be
and I need you to stand with me
and walk with me now through the open door
we’ve been through so much together
through painted skies and through the rain
day by day our love grows stronger
a love a hundred horses could not break
as time goes on
the shifting sands will move beneath us
there’s no need to fear it
feel the wind, hear the song it’s singin’
I believe in who I am, and
I believe in who I’m gonna be
and I need you to stand with me
and walk with me now through the open door
old and grey we’ll be together
with a light still shining in our eyes
it’s the light of life’s fulfillment
it’s the light of having won life’s prize
of no regrets
of no wondering what just might have been
no such troubling questions
you and I, heard the strong wind singing
I believe in who I am, and
I believe in who I’m gonna be
and I need you to stand with me
and walk with me now through the open door
Well Worn Road
This is pretty much the only country style song I’ve written; after having studied a lot of country music, I have a newfound respect for what goes into writing a good country song. It is not an easy thing to pull off! Vocals by musician and songwriter Leon Bateman.
Well-Worn Road : Music
and Lyrics by Daphne Kalfon © 2003
there’s a change in me I, can’t deny
it’s a change that I, cannot hide
if you call my name now, please just know
that I won’t be comin’ down that well-worn road
won’t be comin’ down...
that well-worn road, was all I ever knew
that well-worn road, the one I walked for you
that well-worn road, was all I ever knew
and I’ll never walk it again
goin’ on my own now it’s, not so bad
and I don’t feel lonely, I don’t feel sad
I can feel that I’m gonna be alright
ever since I left behind that well-worn road
since I left behind...
that well-worn road, was all I ever knew
that well-worn road, the one I walked for you
that well-worn road, was all I ever knew
and I’ll never walk it again
I’ve never felt, quite like this before
and I’ll never miss, walking down that road
that well-worn road, was all I ever knew
that well-worn road, the one I walked for you
that well-worn road, was all I ever knew
and I’ll never walk it again
