My Orlando
I created this piece for an experimental dance video. The film maker was looking for music in the vein of Philip Glass with the instrumentation of a string quartet, and was needing to have various sections to the piece, hence the silences you hear between one section of the music and the next. I tried to emulate Mr. Glass’s style but not too much so as not to sound just like him and also in an effort to infuse it with something of my own.
A Wild Paint-In
This was the music I wrote for the end credits sequence of a 3D animation in which several paint cans have come to life and paint a room.
Café Mocha
This piece of music was also scored to the independent film “Up the Wall” (see “Film & Video”). To create this score, I first imported the film into Cubase and wrote a solo piano score to the scene, and then I brought my piano score into Finale to transform it into an orchestral piece. After I completed the score, I discovered that the piece no longer followed the film action closely enough, so I have it as a separate piece on its own.
The scene the music was written to depicts the trials and tribulations of a young woman working in her art studio. She lives on the main floor of an older house and on the floor above her lives an elderly lady who is rather noisy. The young woman is trying her best under the circumstances, to achieve a sense of calm and quiet despite the annoying sounds always emanating from this neighbour above her.
The Expedition
This was the music written for a short animation depicting a ship called the Endurance as it sets off on its expedition to the Antarctica in 1914.
Come Back With My Leg!
In the “Film/Video” section of the site, there is a video by the name of “Mr. Bones”. In the original score I wrote for the film, specifically the end credits, I used piano only. This version was rearranged for small klezmer orchestra.
